Why do rodents tend to increase in unhygienic areas?

Rodents are highly adaptable creatures that thrive in environments where food, water, and shelter are readily available. In unhygienic areas, conditions often lead to a surplus of food sources, such as waste and discarded items, which make it easy for rodents to find sustenance. Additionally, standing water or damp areas may be present, providing both hydration and suitable living conditions. These elements create an ideal habitat for rodents to flourish, promoting their population growth.

The presence of high temperatures can affect rodent behavior, but it does not necessarily correlate with their tendency to invade unhygienic areas. Likewise, low human activity might reduce the risk of predation for rodents, but it doesn't inherently provide the necessary resources that attract them to specific locations. Increased predation risk is also less relevant in this context, as rodents are more likely to exploit accessible resources when they are abundant.
